At Lacroix Sports, our customers’ safety is our top priority. So our new helmets with NFC technology meet the needs of skiers concerned about fall protection. Guided by innovation, aesthetics and performance, our brand offers a wide range of helmets to satisfy all users.

A state-of-the-art ski helmet

Every year, more than 140 million people around the world enjoy board sports. However, on average, between 130,000 and 140,000 people are injured every year in French ski resorts. As a result, safety on the slopes has become a priority. Hence the urgent recommendation to use a ski helmet to maximize safety during the descent. With this in mind, Lacroix is innovating with an NFC headset, with the aim of extending this technology to other Lacroix sports.

What is NFC technology?

NFC technology enables the exchange of information via an integrated chip. What’s more, it facilitates short-range, high-frequency wireless information transfer between two devices equipped with the technology, including a smartphone. The helmet is equipped with this NFC chip, enabling emergency services or anyone providing assistance to access information easily via a smartphone. Thanks to this technical advance, a person helping a skier who is unable to speak can receive medical information instantly.

Simple, intuitive operation.

Skiers purchasing NFC-enabled helmets must first register their vital medical information and emergency contacts. This information is then stored on a chip, which can be consulted instantly following an accident, for example.

In just 3 steps, you have access to the skier’s data:

  1. Download the FEI SOS application from the App Store or Google Play Store on a smartphone with built-in NFC.
  2. Open the application and press the scan button
  3. Bring your smartphone close to the sticker on the helmet to access essential information.

FEI in detail

In 2018, Italian company FEI, an acronym for Fast & Ecological Information, launched its goal: to facilitate rapid access to medical information and emergency contacts for those in trouble or involved in an accident. Whether for marathon running or skydiving, FEI is developing this innovative device in a variety of forms, including wristbands, adhesive labels, electronic chips that can be integrated into various fabrics, and wallet cards. These products operate without batteries, eliminating the need for recharging or an Internet connection. Lightweight, discreet, hypoallergenic and water-resistant, they offer a versatile solution.
